Athens Coin: owl

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9The owl, traditionally accompanies Athena, dominated the mints for ages in Athens.The coin usually has one side with the face of Athena and the other side with the Owl. The inscription “ΑΘΕ” is an abbreviation of ΑΘΗΝΑΙΟΝ, which may be translated as “of the Athenians”.
